Global electronic music icon Avicii, responsible for worldwide hits such as “Levels”, “Fade Into Darkness” and “Silhouettes”, appeared at an exclusive interactive session with contestants of this years burn Residency on Wednesday 29th May in Ibiza at Hotel Es Vive. Whilst also giving an in-depth tutorial into his production techniques he selected two contestants to join him at the Formula 1® Grand Prix in Budapest to perform at an exclusive event known as BURN YARD ™ Live on July 26th!
Fire Flowerz from Italy and Yamato from Japan were picked as the two lucky winners for this exciting part of the program. “We’re totally overwhelmed to have been chosen to perform with Avicii in such an exciting environment and in front of such a huge crowd, it’s incredible.” said Fire Flowerz. “Avicii is an amazing artist and I am over the moon to have a chance to play with him. It’s something I never thought would be possible and now via this experience in Ibiza, that dream is becoming truer by the minute” said Yamato.
The arrival of Avicii in Ibiza marks another milestone for burn Residency, which is 10 days into the two-week intensive boot camp stage. Having already sat down with Fatboy Slim, Joe Goddard (Hot Chip), Steve Lawler and Solomun – music prodigy Tim Bergling added in his unique insight, paving the way for the sixth and final mentor, Maceo Plex, to close off proceedings.
During his afternoon and evening with the contestants he shared his in-depth studio knowledge on sampling and also talked them through some of the key milestones in his career. “DJ’ing and producing has become my life for the past few years, when I was 18 I never could have imagined being able to play in some of the places I’ve been, or selling records on the same scale as ‘Levels’” Avicii told the contestants. “This is a career like any other and you have to be dedicated and focussed 100% of the time and treat it like any other job, but for me it’s the best job anyone could ever want. I am truly blessed to be able to do this every day and I wish each of you the best of luck in the future in living out your dreams”.
In addition to shedding light on his life as an international DJ and producer, Avicii also gave the contestants an exclusive sneak glimpse at the plans for his upcoming debut artist album, due out later in the year.
