EDM Takeover: Halloween Festivals

Halloween: The Most Wonderful Time of Year.

Usually, that title is reserved for the jolly benevolence of Christmas, but really, what could be better than cosplaying as your favorite Avenger and stuffing your face with all the candy you can take before getting sick? The only thing that could make Halloween better would be to do all that while screaming for your favorite artists as they tear down the stage. These three festivals that take place Halloween weekend are sure to be filled with all the fright and excitement that can only be enhanced by music.

Voodoo Music and Arts Experience, New Orleans, LA, October 30-November 1

New Orleans is known for its deep magical past of voodoo, witchcraft and all things supernatural. That means that there is no better place to experience All Hallow’s Eve than in America’s most haunted city.

Notable headliners: Jack Ü, Alesso, Eric Prydz and Deadmau5

Freaky Deaky, Chicago, IL, October 30-November 1

This festival is put on by React Events, an entertainment company that promotes clubs and brings concerts and festivals to Chicago. Since 2008 it has been making Halloween a “spooktacular” event (as they describe it) in the windy city.

Notable headliners: Armin Van Buuren, Keys N Krates, Pete Tong, Super8 & Tab

Hard Day of the Dead, Pomona, CA, October 31-November 1

Back in 2007, DJ Destructo (aka Gary Richards) decided to create HARD: an organization that hosts live concerts and festivals such as HARD Summer and HOLY SHIP! Their Halloween edition certainly won’t disappoint with the big names they have coming this year.

Notable headliners: Deadmau5, Kolsch, Nero, Skrillex
